What vibe coding actually means
Vibe coding is building software by describing what you want, letting a model draft it, and steering by feel rather than typing every line yourself. Taste replaces the keyboard as the bottleneck. The term started as a half-joke and stuck because it named something a lot of people were already doing and not admitting to — which is the same reason the graphics in our vibe coding tees collection exist.
How the working day changed
The rhythm is different now. You spend less time writing the first draft and much more time reading, rejecting and redirecting it. Agentic tools — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and the rest — run for minutes at a stretch, which means the skill being tested is knowing when to let it keep going and when to stop it. The failure modes are new too: confident nonsense, a refactor nobody asked for, and the specific dread of watching an agent touch a file you did not want touched.
